Hollow Knight Silksong : 5 Hardest Bosses

5 Hardest Bosses in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Hollow Knight is one of the best games I have ever played on PC ( Easily in my Top 3 ). That’s not a hot take — it’s a statement that gets less controversial every year as more people discover it and come to the same conclusion. So Silksong, its sequel starring Hornet, has been sitting in my most anticipated list since it was announced. The wait has been genuinely painful in the way that only the best games make you wait. Every Nintendo Direct, every gaming showcase, every industry event — I’ve watched all of them with the same quiet hope that this would finally be the one. When Silksong finally dropped, I went in with expectations that were probably unreasonably high. Team Cherry met most of them.

Silksong is not Hollow Knight. It shares DNA, it shares atmosphere, it shares the commitment to making you work for every inch of progress — but it’s doing something distinctly its own. Hornet plays completely differently from the Knight; the world has a different visual identity, and the tone is slightly more urgent and outward-facing than the introspective silence of the original. That took some adjustment. Once I adjusted, I didn’t want to stop playing.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has over 40 bosses, and most of them will humble you at least once. These five stood out as the ones that stopped me completely — the fights I had to walk away from, come back to, and approach differently before I could progress. In order of how much they made me question my life choices.

Fighting tough bosses is one of the main selling points of Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it doesn’t disappoint in that regard. There are over 40 bosses you can face in the game (for now), and many of them can easily give players a real run for their money.

However, some of the early game bosses might feel harder because you do not have the necessary Tools to deal with them. This list will break down five of the hardest bosses you can face in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

(Note: This list does take run back and point in time where you fight the boss.)

    1. Savage Beastfly

The first time this boss killed me, I assumed I had just made a mistake. The second time,e I started paying attention. By the fifth attempt, pt I had my notepad out and was writing down attack patterns because my brain alone wasn’t keeping up. What makes this fight particularly nasty is the arena — limited space, aggressive movement from the boss, and attacks that punish the defensive instincts you’ve been building throughout the game. Hornet’s speed is your greatest asset here. Don’t stop moving.

The phase transition is the part that catches most players off guard. The fight changes tone completely — what was a mobile, reactive encounter becomes something that requires stillness and precise timing instead. Switching between those two mindsets mid-fight, under pressure, with low health, is exactly as hard as it sounds. When I finally cleared it,t I immediately looked up how long the boss had been in development because the quality of the design felt like something that had been thought about for a very long time.

This boss is also one of the first you might encounter that summons enemies to assist it in battle. However, aside from those additions, the Beastfly itself does not pose too much of a challenge. Once you can get the boss to deal with its own minions, you will likely sail smoothly through the fight.

2. Last Judge

This is one of the first major obstacles players encounter in the late parts of Act 1. You’ll likely struggle for two main reasons:

First, the run back to the boss feels punishing, with plenty of enemies along the way that can easily chip away at Hornet.

Second, the boss itself is fairly tough. However, the death explosion attack catches many players off guard, often leading to a guaranteed death and a full reset.

Without the long run back and the explosive death mechanic (which is a bit funny in hindsight), this boss would be much more manageable. But as it stands, the Last Judge will likely give Hollow Knight: Silksong players a hard time for quite a while.
