Genshin Impact Version 6.6 and 6.7: Essential Banner, Event, and Exciting Update Guide

Genshin Impact Version 6.6 and 6.7: Every Banner, Event, and Update You Need To Know

Genshin Impact was my first-ever gacha game, and I want to be upfront about that because it changes how I approached it compared to veterans who have been pulling since version 1.0. I went in expecting a free-to-play action RPG and got completely blindsided by how good it actually is. The combat is fluid and satisfying in a way I did not expect, the art style is genuinely stunning, and the world is enormous in a way that keeps revealing new things the further you go. What I did not expect was the banner system — the gacha mechanic that drives the entire character acquisition loop — and how quickly you learn to plan your Primogem spending very carefully if you want to pull the characters you actually want. This guide covers everything confirmed for versions 6.6 and 6.7 — every banner, every event, and what is coming next, so you can plan your pulls properly instead of spending everything on impulse and regretting it immediately.

Two versions’ worth of content is a lot to cover, so let’s get straight into it.

Version 6.6 Luna VII — What Is Happening Right Now

The current version is 6.6 — also known as Luna VII — and it is split into two phases, as every Genshin version is. Phase 1 ran from May 20 to June 9 and featured Nicole and Durin as the two five-star banner characters. If you missed either of them, that is unfortunate, but not the end of the world — reruns happen, and both will return eventually. The boosted four-star character across Phase 1 banners was Prune, a new four-star character making their debut alongside Nicole and Durin.

Phase 2 of version 6.6 is the currently active phase, and it runs from June 9 to June 30. This phase features Lohen making his debut alongside a rerun of Mavuika. Lohen is a new five-star Cryo polearm user — worth noting that he is expected to be added to the Standard Banner after his debut, which means pulling during this window is the smart play if you want him. Once a character goes to Standard Banner, they are available permanently but at much lower rates — getting them on their debut limited banner is always the better deal if you have the Primogems for it. Mavuika is a returning five-star Pyro claymore user for anyone who missed her first run.

Version 6.6 Phase 2 — Four-Star Characters on Both Banners

The four-star characters boosted on both Lohen and Mavuika’s banners in Phase 2 are Mika, Xiangling, and Bennett. If you are a newer player, Bennett especially is one of the most useful four-star characters in the entire game, and getting him to Constellation 1 makes him even better. Xiangling is similarly a staple of several strong team compositions. If you do not have either of them at high constellations, this Phase 2 is worth pulling on just for the four-star drops, even if the five-stars are not your priority.

Version 6.7 Luna VIII — Everything Confirmed For The Next Update

Version 6.7 — Luna VIII — is confirmed, and the banner lineup has been officially revealed through the recent Genshin Impact livestream. This version is shaping up to be one of the most interesting in recent memory because of who is on it. Here is the full confirmed schedule.

Phase 1 runs from July 1 to July 21 and features Sandrone making her playable debut alongside a rerun of Citlali. Sandrone is a five-star Cryo claymore user and arguably the most anticipated character release in a long time — she is the seventh of the Fatui Harbingers, also known as The Marionette, and her role in the Nod-Krai storyline has made her one of the most talked about upcoming characters in the community. Citlali is a returning five-star Cryo catalyst user for anyone who did not get her on her first run.

Phase 2 runs from July 21 to August 11 and features reruns of Columbina and Raiden Shogun. Columbina is a five-star Hydro catalyst user, and Raiden Shogun is a five-star Electro polearm user — both of them are genuinely strong characters that remain relevant in team compositions even this far into the game’s lifespan. If you missed either of them previously, this Phase 2 is absolutely worth saving for.

Sandrone — Is She Worth Pulling For?

Sandrone is the big one for version 6.7, and the question of whether to pull for her is genuinely interesting. As a Cryo Claymore user, she is built around Superconduct reactions — pairing Cryo and Electro to reduce enemy Physical resistance and create strong team synergies with Electro supports. Her kit as a Fatui Harbinger is designed to feel distinct from other Cryo characters already in the roster, and early impressions from the community suggest her playstyle involves short explosive burst windows rather than sustained DPS rotations. That kind of high ceiling kit rewards players who learn her properly and punishes those who just auto-attack and hope for the best.

My honest take for newer players — if you have been playing through the Nod-Krai storyline and care about the narrative side of Genshin, Sandrone is one of the most story-relevant characters to become playable in a long time. Her sacrifice in the main quest hits differently once you know who she is, and pulling her feels like it carries actual narrative weight rather than just being a mechanical upgrade. That is not the normal way to evaluate a gacha pull, but it is a completely valid one, and Genshin’s best characters are the ones where the story and gameplay quality align. Sandrone looks like one of those characters.

Raiden Shogun and Columbina — Are The Phase 2 Reruns Worth It?

Raiden Shogun has been one of the most used five-star characters in Genshin Impact since her original release, and years later, she is still showing up in high-level team compositions. Her Electro application, her Energy Recharge support for the whole team, and her burst damage output make her genuinely versatile in a way that most characters are not. If you do not have Raiden Shogun yet, version 6.7 Phase 2 is the time to get her. She will be relevant for a long time yet.

Columbina is a five-star Hydro catalyst user, and as another Fatui Harbinger, she carries the same story significance as Sandrone. Her Hydro application feeds into strong reaction teams, and she has maintained relevance in the meta since her release. The choice between saving for Sandrone in Phase 1 or Columbina and Raiden in Phase 2 is one of the trickier pull decisions version 6.7 presents — if you are a newer player and do not have Raiden Shogun, the Phase 2 argument is very strong. If you have been following the Harbinger storyline, Phase 1 with Sandrone is probably the more emotionally satisfying pull.

What Comes After Version 6.7 — Version 7.0 Snezhnaya

After version 6.7 ends on August 11, the game jumps straight to version 7.0 — HoYoverse is skipping 6.8 entirely. Version 7.0 launches on August 12, and it is the most anticipated update in years. This is the version that takes us to Snezhnaya — the homeland of the Fatui, the nation ruled by the Tsaritsa, and a location that has been teased since the very beginning of Genshin Impact’s story. For players who have been following the narrative since the early versions, getting to finally step into Snezhnaya is a genuinely enormous moment.

The confirmed characters for version 7.0 include Pantalone and Vodyanitsa, alongside strong speculation about the Tsaritsa herself becoming playable. No banner dates have been officially confirmed yet beyond the August 12 launch date, but the community is already in full planning mode — saving Primogems now for 7.0 is a very real consideration if any of the expected characters are on your wish list. We will cover version 7.0 in full as details are officially confirmed.

Version 6.6 Events — What To Do Before The Update Ends

Version 6.6 has three main events running alongside the banners, and all of them offer Primogem rewards worth collecting before the version ends on June 30. The main voiced event this version centres around Klee and her adorable group of younger characters — Prune, Qiqi, and Sayu — in what the game is calling the Little Hexenzirkel. There are three mini-game types within it, including a tower defence section and a combat event. If you have not touched this event yet, do it before June 30 because the Primogems from it do not carry forward.

There is also an extended version of the ongoing To Temper Thyself and Journey Far event, which includes a new Tempered in Practice mode with weekly goals rewarding Primogems on completion. Complete those weekly goals every week before the version ends. For newer players, these events are some of the most generous free Primogem sources in the game, and skipping them to focus only on the open world is leaving real resources on the table.

How To Plan Your Primogem Spending For 6.7 and Beyond

This is the section I wish someone had given me when I started playing Genshin. The gacha system rewards planning far more than it rewards impulse spending, and understanding a few basics changes everything about how you experience the banner cycle.

Soft pity starts at 74 pulls — from pull 74 onward, your chance of getting a five-star character starts increasing significantly. Hard pity — the guaranteed five-star — is at 90 pulls. Every pull you make carries forward across banners, so if you hit 60 pulls on Lohen’s banner without getting a five-star, those 60 pulls count toward your pity on the next banner too.

The 50/50 system means your first five-star on any limited banner has a 50% chance of being the featured character and a 50% chance of being a standard five-star. If you lose the 50/50, your next five-star on any limited banner is guaranteed to be the featured character. Knowing where you are in your pity and whether you are guaranteed is the single most important piece of information when deciding whether to pull on a banner.

For version 6.7 specifically, if you are saving for Sandrone and you are guaranteed with decent pity built up, 160 Primogems per pull means you need roughly 12,800 to guarantee her with the guarantee in hand. If you are starting from zero and lose the 50/50, you are looking at closer to 28,800 Primogems for a guaranteed Sandrone. Plan accordingly.

Final Thoughts — What Should You Actually Do Right Now

If you are playing Genshin Impact right now, here is the honest priority order for the next few weeks. Complete every active event in version 6.6 before June 30 and collect every free Primogem available — do not leave them on the table. Decide before version 6.7 launches on July 1 whether Sandrone or the Phase 2 reruns are your priority, and do not change your mind mid-version. If you are a newer player without Raiden Shogun, seriously consider saving for Phase 2 — she is one of the best investments in the game for team building.

And start thinking about version 7.0 now. Snezhnaya is coming on August 1,2 and the character lineup expected for that version is genuinely stacked. The players who arrive at 7.0 with 20,000 plus Primogems saved will have options. The players who spent everything on impulse pulls in 6.7 will not. Genshin Impact is an excellent game — the combat is genuinely fun, the world is beautiful, and the story keeps getting more ambitious with every version. The gacha system rewards patience more than any other quality. Be patient with your Primogems. Your future self will thank you.
